Infrared Sauna
What is an “Infrared Sauna”?
An Infrared Sauna is a form of heat therapy (“Thermotherapy”) that uses the same type of “radiant” energy that the sun produces in giving life to the entire plant kingdom (it’s the wavelengths that allows plants to make energy) but without the harmful effects of the sun’s solar radiation. This therapy is commonly used in neonatal units to warm premature infants, used by athletes as therapy for strength and endurance training and recommended and supported by renowned doctors such as Dr. Oz!
What does an infrared sauna do?
This narrow band of energy travels up to 1 ½ – 3” into the body allowing for significant detoxification of heavy metals, chemical toxins stored in fat cells, sodium, cholesterol, pesticides, cleaning agents, endocrine disrupters, alcohol, and nicotine. It also is known to promote weight loss and improve joint/muscle pain, blood circulation, immune system functioning, energy, stress, blood pressure and so much more!
How does it work?
In a private relaxing room with dim lights and soothing music, you will sit in a one person, wooden sauna for 15-30 minutes. You want your skin exposed to the infrared rays, so most choose to wear no clothing into the sauna. You will begin to sweat as the infrared rays penetrate directly into your skin. This feels comfortable because the heat is dry and lower than a steam sauna yet deeply penetrating into the skin, (unlike a steam sauna that only penetrates the surface and the sweat you experience is mostly steam vapor.) This therapy mimics the body’s healing, protective mechanism of a fever, which burns out viral and bacterial cells, accelerating healing as well as providing the best form of detoxification and overall improved health and wellbeing.
